About this episode
Psalm 74 begins with confusion and pain as the psalmist questions why it feels like God has forgotten His people. In the middle of hardship and uncertainty, it can genuinely seem as though God is distant or silent. But right in the middle of the psalm, everything shifts. The psalmist begins to recount the mighty works of God—His power over creation, His deliverance in the past, and His faithfulness throughout history. This pattern appears throughout Scripture because we are prone to forget. When difficult seasons come, one of the most important things we can do is intentionally remember what God has already done. Recount His faithfulness, His provision, His mercy, and the ways He has carried you before. Those reminders become anchors for the soul in difficult times. When you feel forgotten, look back and remember that God has been faithful all along.
