About this episode
Psalm 32 is the first of the penitential psalms, a psalm of confession, repentance, and forgiveness. In this devotional, we reflect on the heavy burden of unconfessed sin and the incredible freedom that comes when we bring that sin before God. David describes the weight of hiding sin the exhaustion, the heaviness, the internal turmoil that comes from silence. But everything changes in verse five when he acknowledges his sin before the Lord. Though there are consequences to sin, God is both just and merciful. When we confess and forsake what we've tried to hide, He forgives, restores, and sets us free. The greatest burden we carry is not financial or relational—it is unconfessed sin. And the greatest freedom comes through God's forgiveness.
